The Bedford Trails Committee, a sub committee of the Bedford Conservation Commission was created in March of 2004. The Trails Committee was formed to provide and promote a cohesive vision for the development and use of the Bedford trail system for passive recreation.
The Committee membership is made up with members from the Bicycle Advisory Committee, Conservation Commission, Recreation Commission, Land Stewards and other interested Bedford residents.
The role of the Trails Committee is to plan and implement maintenance and improvements to the public access trails within the Bedford Conservation Areas.
The Committee, with approval from the Conservation Commission, will propose and implement trail improvements such as:
* Addition of bog bridges to make inaccessible areas accessible * Trail Signage & Mapping * Creating connections between trails and conservation lands * Providing wheel chair access where appropriate
The Committee will be responsible for finding funding for trail improvements.
The Committee will provide trail use events such as local hikes, cross country ski tours and trail clean ups.
